It is certainly true that the original saying is "Bros before Hoes," and that I had previously
lacked knowledge of said term.
However, if the same meaning is being carried out, then to what extent is the significance of the
lexicon used to transmit the deeper idea?
I would agree that "homies," which, to my knowledge, originates in ebonic speech, does indeed
"signal" the speakers of such slang, primarily black Americans. "Bro," on the other hand, is
generally conceived to be a wider group of people, which consists of the American male youth,
middle and lower classes.
The difference of "before" and "over" is neglegible, and I have heard "bros over hoes" used
instead.
However, in the end, I am grateful for your correction. I'm glad that 4chan is a hub of
