I had to resort to Mario on world 8-1 to handle all those goddamn pits.
But I have to give the creator credit, when you play as Mario, it seriously feels just like the
original game. I can't think of any other flash game that accomplishes this.

ads! (doesnt look that way at least, ive blocked the ads anyway so im not sure)

having it up on jewgrounds is fine, it does have a lot of people (kids) so you will have your
flash played a lot. just dont ruin the flash itself by putting their logo in it or anything like
that. they are just a site and do not deserve the endless free advertisement in something that
you had everything to do with and they had nothing at all to do with.

I vote for Z + X like you have them. For the special attack I think you should have several
buttons: A / S / D / C / Spacebar
All of these do the same thing, but in having many of them the player can chose which one to use
without having to configure anything, also he doesnt really need to memorize anything since
whatever he hits except Z and X will be the special attack. Personally I would have used my thumb
to hit the space bar.

Also I think you should make a clear notice of the controls on the start screen. Just say
>Controls: Z + X + Arrow Keys
>Special: A/S/D/C/Spacebar
A friend of mine played and believe it or not but he skipped all text. It's too much like it is
(yes it's true, even though it's short it's too much). He closed the game since he couldnt find Z
and X. Most would find it I think but some are in a hurry and wont bother to look for keys.
In fact you should switch to telling the controls by using a unordered list, like so:
+ Z: Run
+ X: Fire
+ Special: Throw knife
+ Special + Down Arrow: Leap forward
People often read these A LOT more often than a chunk of text. Just a tip from someone in the web
designing business.
