MPC-HC also uses the ActiveX control. The installed Flash is what had the killswitch. You can also install an older version of Flash (the entire installation, not just the standalone projector) from before the killswitch was added. Another option is Chinese Flash, which was developed a few versions further after the EOL date, but has spyware in it, which can be patched out. If you do this, you'll also need a browser that still supports plugins.
