Well the progression goes
Normal mode -> Hard mode -> Very hard mode -> I die if I didn't before
so there's actually two "speed ups" or possibly mode

Oh yeah, also, every new difficulty level brings new missions
some on hard mode are actually easier than some normal mode missions, but most aren't
