When you have more XP than the current level requires, it can build up. Clicking on the mastery
bar when that happens will empty your excess XP and put it into mastery.

weight down space bar
Do something else for a couple of hours/days, w/e.
Come back to find it has raised to Mastery 3 and 1/3.

Don't really care to figure out the code from the stupid Flash asm, but these strings are there:
Resets all levels and stats. Increases stats per level by 1.
Cuts amount of xp needed for mastery by 10%
Continually levels until xp is depleted.
I guess the rebirth is based on mastery and the others are hardcoreness.
