[_] [?] Coloris + Technologic, as /r/'d Anonymous 10/05/10(Tue)19:43 No.1389315

Hey guys. Someone requested my Coloris + Technologic mix last night, so here it is. Or maybe?

See, the thing is, I'm sitting here editing the ID3 tag, and I don't know what to put for my DJ
name. So I'm going to go make dinner, and when I come back, I'll pick the best of your
suggestions and then post the (slightly higher quality) MP3.

  Go.

  Your tripcode should be Mercury.

I can't believe I witnessed something archive worthy.

My penis is like Daft Punk. Everyone samples it.

Indeed. Especially Technologic. The first bit is simply the monologue with no music -- it's like
they wanted people to mix it. And of course, everyone does. It's like the first achievement a
  wannabe DJ gets.

Fun fact: This didn't exist when I made the /f/ mix. I just had Coloris in there and was like "I
could put some Technologic in... here."

  >>1389339

Good principle, but 'DJ Mercury' sounds so incredibly typical and stale. In fact, I bet there's
at least 20 DJ Mercury's out there.

  What about DJ Milk Man?

Was thinking the same thing. "DJ Mercury" is off the charts of my cliche-o-meter. DJ Milk Man is
good, it has that oldschool vibe to it.

>> [_] Anonymous 10/05/10(Tue)21:31 No.1389389

  Good.
The intro is, well, bland. I was going to say that you should have made it more filled with
stuff, but then I heard the buildup (which was great).
Try using the trick of bringing the whole sound up and down in that intro at certain parts to
  make it more catchy.
  But great mix.

I use a pirated copy of Ableton Live. If you think and work in loops, there's nothing else like
it. If you think in terms of tracks like a traditional DJ, you're probably better off using
something like Native Instruments Traktor (also not free).

I started out using Mixxx for DJ stuff and Audacity for non-linear editing (both free), but
you'll grow out of them quickly.

>> [_] Anonymous 10/05/10(Tue)21:39 No.1389394

  >>1389389
Thanks for the honest critique. I just wanted something simple that was easy to transition into.
I'll keep this in mind for the future.

>> [_] Bitteranon !!GrK8AaOpkrb 10/05/10(Tue)21:44 No.1389398

thanks anon I'll check into Mixxx and Audacity they seem well enough for a noob like me to start
  out on

also this guy uses Ableton Live / Reason 4

  any opinion on those?

Never used Reason, though I've heard it's good. I might use it if I ever get bored with the
  built-in instruments/effects in Live.

>> [_] Chipmunks on Roofies !!dgy9Bf6QOti 10/06/10(Wed)00:11 No.1389523

  >>1389519
I plan on buying it when I'm in a position to make money with it. I simply cannot justify paying
$450 for a piece of software I dick around with in my spare time to make shitty remixes I release
for free. Not that that makes piracy OK, mind you, but if anyone wants to bitch about the lost
sale, I have to point out that the sale was lost at the $450 price point. Piracy was simply a
  convenient alternative.

>> [_] Chipmunks on Roofies !!dgy9Bf6QOti 10/06/10(Wed)00:14 No.1389524

  >>1389523
It should also be pointed out that I do not have performance/streaming/mixing licenses for any of
the music involved. I don't even have personal licenses for most of it, so the whole thing is
just one big bucket of piracy -- and without piracy, it wouldn't exist. This is pretty much why
  I'm releasing it on 4chan. :)

>> [_] Anonymous 10/06/10(Wed)00:37 No.1389542

>> [_] Chipmunks on Roofies !!dgy9Bf6QOti 10/06/10(Wed)01:10 No.1389572

  >>1389554
Yes, but not like this. My other stuff is mostly minimal techno/house with simple analog synths
and sample mangling. Maybe some day I'll publish some of it. :)

I'm heading out for the night, guys. Listen, mangle, mix, and enjoy.
