also holding left and down, then pressing attack several times will make you slide very fast in
the direction.

You can annihilate the enemy by hitting him while holding left and down; link does a 'down'
attack (while sliding left quickly as has been pointed out already) but dark link never comes
back down from being slashed up into the sky.

I also got stuck in the being hit state. I didn't Dark Link to fall off the edge but juggling him
is extremely easy.
