I dunno why, but for some reason it just doesn't seem like the most social animal. I mean, the
"yawn squeak" looked more like it was a cat's "stop touching me" grumpy lunge/reaction that just
ended with a "fuck it - too lazy" yawn.

Well, they are a big more aggressive though. Fennecs have only been domesticated a little, they
are still a bit wild. Helps if they have been raised around humans since birth though.

mammals that includes the wolves, foxes, jackals, coyotes, and the domestic dog; a member of this

vulpes, member of family canidae, AKA canines
unless you always use latin in daily conversation

Fennecs are vulpine. Dogs are canine. Both of them are canids.
The difference being between family and genus.

Yes, foxes can acceptably (if we are to take our cues on acceptability from Wikipedia, which, you
know, why not) though not accurately be called canine. They are vulpine canids.

You can pull whatever etymological definitions you want; I'm speaking entirely in terms of
taxonomy. It is inappropriate to call members of canidae canines because they are already called
canids. Canines, instead refers to the tribe canini.
