I can't stand evangelion. ugh. I must be the only True otaku in the universe who does tho. I saw
it as a young child and it scarred me for life. hell, by the end of the series, I was on
anti-depressants. fucking spinless wimp and mama clone emotionless wanabee vulcan and father

A number of the quotes don't actually say that it's good, only that it is popular.
One quote said he was an Evangelion fans before it became popular, but that's impossible, because
the anime fandom declared that Evangelion was cool before it was even released. I remember a
friend of mine getting a VHS copy of the very first fansub. Everyone was "this is cool" before
pressing play. The anime fandom is and has always been a bunch of kids circle-jerking over what
everyone else says is cool.

I don't hate it, but i don't think its great ether. Its just vastly overrated, and is decent at
best. Its pseudo-deep concepts are a joke. I would might have affected me like you did if I
wasn't already messed up from reading a book in the sixth grade about death and how life is
pointless (it was a book influenced by kafkas work)
why the fuck they had that book in a children's reading list, confuses me too hell...it made me

I found Evangelion to be very boring and shallow, probably because I had just finished with
GITS.... and The Rurouni Kenshin OVAs.
So the stupor, I guess would be the word, was sort of lost on me.
