1. Once you get an ending, you're stuck with it. You have to clear your cookies to get unstuck.
The idea is that, since you only have ONE chance, like in real life, you'll take it more
seriously. Sadly, it's poorly explained.
2. The only way to survive is to work in the lab at every available opportunity. Boring solution
I know, but it's the ONLY way. (First time I played I had the kindness to work in the lab until
my daughter was dying, at which point I took her to the park so she could die somewhere serene
and beautiful... And the game rewarded me with death for that. Fuck you, game.)
3. Your wife always dies. Sorry.
4. Yes, going out to celebrate your cure for cancer on the first night, before anyone realizes
that the cure is deadly, will get you a bad ending. Yes, that is awful awful game design.

At the end of the game, if you have a good end, coming back later reveals that trees and plants
are growing back and becoming lush again. Your vaccine was released in time to save plant life --
though perhaps not animal life. It is doubtful you saved any other humans though. It is safe to
assume that there is bacteria still in this world, considering your intestinal track is still in
place, it will just need to expand to fill the now abundantly open niches.
