And to anyone who disagrees, I suggest looking at the chemical composition. You will find that electrical tape has a moderate resistance but that its' use is not to create an insulator nor to allow the flow of electrons. Most commonly, it is used at connection areas (Such as wire-caps for example) To help secure the connector and to ensure bare wire is not exposed. To allow exposed wire is to run the risk of short circuiting. cnt'd >> [_] Anonymous 12/22/10(Wed)02:17 No.1439097 cnt'd: You find it more often used to help bundle any number of wires together for the purpose of running through pipes in industrial uses. Just a note: Electrical tape should at no time be used as an insulator as it's resistance is too low for most household applications nor should it be used to prevent oneself from getting shocked. The danger here is not the voltage but the amperage. Just .05 amps is lethal as described by the National electric code. This can be found in the most recent copy of the NEC 2010 edition which is some750-1095 pages long. >> [_] WitnessX !!X6cD0l+ZuTf 12/22/10(Wed)02:21 No.1439102 >>1439095 >>1439097 All true, but lest you forgot, people on 4chan were stupid enough to follow the instructions of that 4cahn . jse spam, remember? >> [_] Anonymous 12/22/10(Wed)02:36 No.1439109 ITT: we troll science! >> [_] Anonymous 12/22/10(Wed)03:27 No.1439132 OMG I TRIED THIS AT HOME IT WORKS SO AWESOME >> [_] Anonymous 12/22/10(Wed)03:40 No.1439136 i put th bttryies up m bum no wat >> [_] Anonymous 12/22/10(Wed)03:48 No.1439144 Check out the comments on the youtube video for this, it's ridiculous how many people tried it. >> [_] Anonymous 12/22/10(Wed)05:33 No.1439203 >>1439102 That was the chemo though. Actually... Everyone disregard what I said! You can take 5 amps and not die!' Furthermore, electrical tape works FINE for shielding 110/220V wiring and can protect you from electrocution 9001% of the time! >> [_] Anonymous 12/22/10(Wed)05:42 No.1439206 >>1439203 depends on where the electricity enters and exits. if the amps cross your heart, say goodbye to life (ie across the heart). >> [_] Anonymous 12/22/10(Wed)06:28 No.1439221 >>1439206 The only time that matters is when the amperage is about .01 amps or so. At that point it has to make a direct arc across your chest. I.E. Nipple to nipple at .01 amps will kill you. |
