From an evolutionary perspective, morality among murder and/or rape came about from a herd
mentality. We were both predators and prey. As such, we were best served by sticking together in
groups of around 10-30 people. We were able in such numbers to both fend off predators, and gang
up on prey.
Morality arose because it's bad to hurt the group in such a situation. The group is what is going
to keep you alive, and humans realized that. Thus, anyone who murdered was kicked out of the
group and died.

Rape is a little more complicated. Rape usually occurred when attacking another tribe, as a means
to both break emotional bonds within that tribe and to further spread ones genes. It became
pretty obvious very quickly that while raping the other tribe's women is a good idea, having your
women get raped is a bad idea. It's bad for the group, therefore it's bad for you.
Modern day morality descends for this, the 'group' extended to now include all of humanity (only
in theory, but that's another discussion entirely). It is wrong to bring harm to another human
being, because you conceivably would not want that same harm to be brought upon you.

That is true, but many of these kind of internalized rules are very general. That is why it can
'feel' like incest to have sex with a step-sister that you are unrelated to, but grew up with.
The evolutionary brain is 'programmed' to see a sibling-like-person and have a feeling that
discourages inbreeding, since it can hurt genetic propagation (due to recessive genes, some of
which are leathal).
