That's true for most Nintendo exclusive titles. Japanese developers usually focus on making adult
content based on video games and or consoles that draws the most popularity (mostly Playstation
titles) in Japan and foreign locations so as to earn more.
Nintendo as of today is more like a cult following and family type of system while Sony and
Microsoft sees a large amount of gamers ranging from casual to hardcore.

Majority of people who bought those systems can be summed up as...
1. Couldn't afford another gaming system at the time (remember, PS3 was $600 when it first came
out)
2. Anticipated a video game made exclusive for that system (such as the new Zelda game, Monster
Hunter Tri, Pokemon, etc.)
3. Parents with 4kids logic
4. Was a fan of Nintendo at the beginning
Though many people bought a Nintendo system, not many sought out for many of it's games. I know
most of /v/'s users who bought a 3DS only bought it to play certain games, such as the now
canceled Megaman Legends 3
