Managed to actually beat the game, you win if you get him over the stadium at the very end
The trick is to buy all the elastic while keeping just enough wing power to keep meeting the
checkpoint, then stock up on wing and make it to the end in one go
The problem with buying the wing and dive first is that it's gone when you use it. But elastic
stays between launches, so you will get successively faster each launch. Then once it's maxed you
can spend your cash in other areas.
It's possible to get $200 in the first launch, you use your wing to nab the first one you see,
then just fall to the ground and you'll roll into the second. I've also managed to get three, but
it involved using the wing perfectly to barely clip one of those power things, allowing me to fly
out of the stadium. Get an elastic with the money.

Once I had max elastic, with a bit of luck in hitting the boost objects along the way, I was able
to beat the game without spending any money on wing or dive, just using the speed from my maxed
elastic to get me moving really fast
With max elastic, max wing and 3 dives I was able to go way past the stadium

After Madrid there's nothing. Literally, it's just land with no powerups. Watch out for the
stadium at the far end of the city though, that'll stop you dead if you hit it.
