Go right twice and hit the middle button, then back to the start, left, middle and a staircase
that wasn't there before shows up. But it just kills you unless there's something else you need
to do. I also found a skull, books, and something from the statue. No idea what to do with them.
Also that binary puzzle didn't do anything when I tried all 16 possibilities.

theres a certain order of looking around and clicking the one of 3 button on 1st floor [ its
random luck as i have noticed they switch around] to unlock stairs up on 2nd floor's back room.
on the 2nd floors right room click the skull and gain an item, also gain a book from the shelf in
the left room.

Oh wait, looks like you can only get the thing from the statue if you first set the binary to
0101. Guess I solved that puzzle without even realizing it.
