Use either appLocale, or if that doesn't work you've got to set your windows to native Japanese.
This isn't without it's problems though since if you can't speak a word of Jap you're gonna be
fucked trying to figure out how to do anything on your computer again.
Luckily, I speak Jap so the second option worked out great.
