That game is based on the story or Orpheus who had to travel to hell to get his dead girlfriend
Euridice back. Hades let him have her back on the condition that as he left hell he could never
look back to see if she was actually with him.
As he crawled closer and closer to the surface, he began to suspect more and more that Hades had
lied to him until he got to the mouth of hell and turned around to tell her that they were free,
which is when he saw her for a slit second and then lost her forever.

Welp. My head exploded. I finished, no save points and It ended with me and her disappearing at
the end by seeing me there at the grave. Then the game transitioned back into the title.
