Reminds me of when my university cut some sort of deal with Apple.
Before, all the computer labs save for one used normal machines running windows (protip: PC means
personal computer. It does not mean "computer that uses Windows). There was one small computer
lab with only Macs for people that wanted them.
When the deal was cut, it changed two things:
- the teaching students that needed special programs for their course were now forced to buy Mac
laptops, because they also switched the program, which would only run on a Mac.

- Almost all the towers in the other computer labs were switched out for these tiny-ass Apple
machines that were about the volume of a Kleemex box. In their infinite wisdom, Apple decided to
put the USB ports and the power key on the back of the damn thing, instead of the front. The back
that was already crowded with all the cords and the security cable thingy. So not only did you
have to reach around the box to get to the back to plug in your memory stick, you had to maneuver
around all these cramped cables and hope that your stick would fit in there. The same deal with
trying to turn the thing on. All for the sake of having a "clean" front and sides, with only the
CD slot on the front. The CD slot, mind you, with only the paperclip hole to open it without
having to go through the entire start up process so you could right click the drive and hit eject
if you forgot your disc in it.

They WERE kind enough to have the Windows OS on there as a choice when you booted up the
computer. Of course, making that selection meant it took more time to actually get the computer
to a usable state, not to mention the extra time it took to boot up the Windows software itself.
Which everyone chose. Every single person I saw using those computers chose the Windows option,
which had the exact same software on it as the old towers. Meaning the entire switch was
pointless.
On a semi-related note, when her file wouldn't work on the class computer, I loved when one
student couldn't connect her Mac laptop to a classroom's projector for a presentation because her
laptop LACKED THE STANDARD MONITOR PORT.
