Saying that A. we have enough resources to eliminate suffering completely without stifling long
term production and human survival and B. greed will be satiable with enough resources is a
pretty fucking tall order. It's all comparative; plenty of people throughout history have been
relatively mentally stable in spite of war, destruction and abject poverty (at least compared to
contemporary standards of wealth).
I support the idea that nutrition, quality of parenting and peer environment have a significant
effect on how people behave, but you have to admit that some people are just fucked up on the
genetic level, whether they end up being murderers or greedy bastards. There's also something to
be said about the quality and accuracy of education in that regard.
