K-On is actually pretty good.
Those who think it's not aren't used to the slice of life genre and don't see it as actual anime
or entertainment because they aren't used to it.
It's the same way of comparing prog-rock music to metal.
You'll say "Dude that music is fucking boring, it's just the same shit stretched out for 22
minutes. It's not fun or enjoyable." Mostly because you'd be someone used to metal which is
usually fast paced and much more abrasive than prog-rock.

It all comes down to taste. If you dislike K-On/the SOL genre, then maybe you just prefer maybe
shounen-shit or fighting/conflict based anime.
Some people, like me, enjoy the conflict/fighting anime, but prefer the much slower, comedic, and
personal slice of life anime much more. That's just my tastes.
