For situations like this, swfchan is really helpful.

Fuck you Orange and fuck you Silver, pains in the ass but I pissed all over you. Yellow was a
footstep and Green was nothing but a nuisance.

the most important part of the game is choosing the right map.
Are your territories going to get taken over before you get your first turn?
Choose a map where you can find yourself a closed off section that is easy to defend.
sometimes expanding too fast will leave you open to be conquered. once you get a few full double
stacks, resting a turn will allow you to fill up the other stacks.

remember that failing a fight reduces the attacker to 1 die. keeping a strong defense will allow
you to expand safely without risk. Just make sure there isn't anyone getting vastly more dice
than you per turn.
the number of dice you get per turn depends on what the largest number of connected territories
are that you have. split up your enemy's territories to reduce their gains per turn.

Also, it can sometimes be a good idea when you've got a lot of territory, but are struggling with
a tenacious enemy to bait them into the center of your territory with a lot of single-dice
territories; they will stumble onto some of those double-stacks that have been building up over
time, and you'll be able to quickly retake any losses, and their defenses will be significantly
reduced by their attack.
