This is actually an abscess caused by subdermal inflation. It's a technique used to "round" out
muscles for competitions or general show. Unfortunately, often the injections go too deep with an
unsterile surface, or a non-biologically-inert substance is used instead of saline. This tends to
be the end result, as the infection rapidly spreads in subdermal layer where it can expand as far
as the tissue space around it will allow (which tends to be a tremendous area in the case of the
legs, pectorals or arms) before eventually constructing bloodflow and causing necrosis (not
pictured here, fortunately).
