if i had to venture a guess, i would say it went something like this: 2ch was originally kind of
a slapdash home project that nobody expected to take off in the manner it did, and like they
said, a few years after the board had started the load was just too much for the budget of the
hosting company, and it was about to get shut down. someone alerted the unix board to this fact,
and they with a few other boards reverse-engineered and improved the code that ran the site,
optimising things so that the bandwidth usage and server load was greatly reduced, thus allowing
the site to continue running. this flash recounts the tale of how in less than a day, they
managed to save the site from going down. at least, thats what i gathered, my moonspeak skills
arent very good.
