I think it's just Tarja Turunen, but in a way, yes, it's Nightwish.
"The Snowman", the cartoon based on a children's book by the same name (Author is Raymond Briggs)
where the song was originally sung, is shown in finnish television every christmas eve. What
makes the cartoon so iconic is the song "Walking in the Air" which is sung by this small scottish
boy with crystal clear voice. Since Tarja is finnish, she decided to sing a cover of it.
