The English one may not be perfect, but I can really appreciate the effort put into it when I

Ooh, cool contradiction bro. But here's why your're wrong:
1.) The singers in both versions are comparable skill level. They both manage to sing in that
disgustingly saccharine moe voice pretty well.
2.) While the Japanese singer's performance isn't BAD, it's unfitting. Her singing is muted, and
willowy, which is jarring against the happy, upbeat and sort of poppy tone of the music. The
English singer's performance, however, has the vitality and energy that compliments the music and
overall makes the cover feel more cohesive.
3.) The English 'lyrics' (obviously some liberties were taken with translation, a good move) just
have better aesthetic flow. The verses bleed into each other more easily, making the song overall
less jilted and easy to listen to - which this music calls for.

As for that, sure, I agree. Foreign languages that you don't understand are often easier to
listen to. That's why the dialogue in the Sims doesn't get annoying. But that doesn't make the
song BETTER, it just makes you have a preference. Which is fine - you're entitled to your opinion
and I won't try to tell you to stop liking a thing. But I do stand by the idea that the English
cover is better executed and more cohesive with the music.

The english has worse vocals AND lyrics. Considering those are the two things that are different
between the versions, the english one is objectively worse. It's not as far of as the Bad Apple
English version (which is just terrible) but certainly notable.
It shouldn't be surprising anyway. Most things are better in their original language, although
not always. I much prefer the dub of Cromartie High School for instance, and the English version
of Cruel Angel's Thesis is quite good.
