The timing and horn work in that song is pretty sloppy. Sounds really unrehearsed, which is sad
because it would be an otherwise good song. Maybe a cleaner more studio-cut version would be
pretty good.

It's intentional. It's not supposed to sound well rehearsed or studio refined, it's supposed to
sound spontaneous and rough so it jives with the lyrics and tone.
It actually takes a fuckload of practice and/or talent to learn to do that in a consistent manner.
Not all genres of music benefit from the sterilizing effect of mixing.
