The problem with modern metal bands (Read: "Core" bands.) is that their singers are too whiny.
Thank goodness that this particular one doesn't have some of that fucking clean singing but this
is still emo as hell. It's like he is trying to do some death metal screaming and growling while
holding back tears. A strange mixture of anger and sadness. And that, in my opinion, is not a
good thing. At least not in this song.
Sure, metal has always had melancholy but it was delivered differently. The artist were men with
sorrow and suffering, these are just boys.
Then again, I have to say that modern bands have some real fucking good music. Especially drum
work has seen a good development in my eyes.
