Tin Man = Steel Industry
Scarecrow = Farmers
Lion = Government
Oz = The Big City
The Wizard = Con Man
Yellow Brick Road = Gold Standard
Silver Slippers = Adding Silver to increase the money supply
In the book her slippers was silver not ruby. They only changed it cause it looked prettier in
color and since the message was useless by the time it became a movie.

So the whole story was brought out by the progressive movement to add silver to the gold standard
to increase the money supply. It was thought that if there was more money for everyone the
workers would have better lives. The opposition believed that it would only cause inflation which
it would, but they argued it would destroy the value of the dollar and crash which wouldn't
happen. Either way the movement failed and the progressive party died completely. Although some
"progressive" politics still survive today. To bad eugenics is seen as evil due to "lol nazi" as
it has some merits.
Next time on /f/ U.S. history, War of 1812 why its underrated and brought out one of the best
presidents in the U.S. ever.
