It's based on a surreal, disturbing indie game called Yume Nikki. The game has little plot and
virtually no dialogue. The generally accepted lore is that the main character, Madotsuki, is
hikikomori. When you try to leave your room, she just shakes her head 'no' and turns around. The
only escape from her confined quarters is the eerie 'dreamworld' she inhabits when sleeping,
which is populated with equally unnerving characters, none of which talk.
The weekend means celebration for many of us. For others, it's just another day of stasis in
