The moral of the story is not to build easily-identifiable landmarks in your city. You never see
aliens giant lizards invading Vancouver, or Mexico City, or Madrid.

That would be really stupid by this point. Worthless suggestion.
Having an issue with suspension of disbelief. How would missiles from jets be useless, but
missiles from the bosom of a mecha be effective. Either all explosives should work or none.

lol the Warheads on the missiles from the Jager are about 10x the size of that being tossed
around by the army. Remember that a human is about the size of the Jager's "eyes"

I...struggle to understand why a big robot can do a better job of launching missiles than say, a
big-ass battleship or a submarine.

which brings us back to jets. If they can build big ass mechs they can build bigger jets with
bigger missile payload and stop wasting tax payers dollars

Learn into aerodynamics.
The wingspan of a jet in Jaeger size would have an enormous wingspan and would be extremely
cumbersome, so even if it managed to get off the ground it wouldn't be able to fly in populated
areas (the Kaiju's main battleground), it would be easily targeted and destroyed, and could not
go fast enough to avoid being clawed out of the air. Not to mention it would only be able to fly
at extremely low altitudes, and would need about 3 miles of runway just to get up to speed.

>>2105287
The jets don't need to be jaegar sized, you fool, just big enough to carry bigger explosives.
Hell, a single nuke would do the trick based on the shitty skills of the kaiju in the flash. Who
care's if they're in populated areas. Blow the fuckers sky high with a super jet, problem solved.
>> [_] Anonymous 09/08/13(Sun)13:35 No.2105301
American missile silos are much more effective at deploying warheads. Guidance systems can send
warheads at such accurate angles that they could blow through your windows in Utah from Texas.
This movie makes little practical sense, since the American population would have FEMA
institutions set up in-land, would be evacuated there, and then the kaiju would be fought in
cities with heavy artillery. Glass shards can fuck up a human. 50mm rounds would be equivalent on
a Kaiju.
Additionally, there is no practical reason to control any man-made machinery from inside the
machine anymore. Drones work just fine.
This entire movie has a shitty premise.
Just accept the fact that it is a reboot of Japanese mecha shows in a live-action setting. I like
that aspect, and it is just fine.
The previous argument, that suspension of disbelief is broken, is completely valid.

The reasons for the Jaegers is to try to halt the Kaiju and kill it through mainly blunt force.
If you try to kill it through conventional means it is going to take longer. The kaiju will leave
a big path of destruction and there is Kaiju Blue. If you have the Kaiju bleed to death it also
causes an environmental disaster.
