Weak constitution, died during childbirth. The guy, who has now lost everything he lived for, for
the sake of his now newborn daughter; falls into overworking himself and alcoholism.
Daughter is raised by Girl's parents for a while, till they send the two off them (guy and
daughter) off to see the guy's hometown and distant, previously alcoholic, father one last time.
Guy opens up to daughter, daughter dies for similar weak constitutional problems as girl.

The whole entire story revolved around her death and subsequent life, so it's not like it's just
a "LOL JK" at the end. The whole game and subsequent anime build up the whole notion of the light
orbs and what they're capable of.
It's not as though Okazaki got to duck out of what happened when Nagisa died. They all lived it,
and Okazaki remembers every terrible moment of it, even after she ends up not dying in the end.
