I like how the softsubs aren't force-synched. If you right click and hit "Play", the subs stop
updating but the video keeps playing.
There must be a single guy pumping these out (like the Plastic Nee-san ones from the last weeks).

Why would anyone go to the trouble for an swf? Yeah, it's Eclipse, and yeah it's Clannad, but I
bet hardsubbed flvs are a dime a dozen on youtube.
Also, be careful watching this if you aren't familiar with KeyAIDs, or you'll come to /a/ in

Yes, it's me. I'm working on a semi-interactive script that converts softsubbed clips into
flashes, because I've noticed that there are a fair number of anime flashes posted to /f/
regularly, and yet they always seem to have annoyingly degraded and hard to read hardsubs
(because of how bad quality the h263 video that can be embedded in swfs is when you have to cram
everything into 10MB).
I'm learning a lot as I work on this, but I mostly have no idea what I'm doing. I don't even have
Flash or Adobe CS or whatever you are supposed to use. I'm just using command line utilities. The
issue you are describing surely has something to do with "timelines" and that sort of thing,
which I am clueless about.

It's because the quality of hardsubs gets degraded so badly in flashes. This is a remake of a
flash you can see here http://swfchan.com/17/82262/ among other places. I think the video quality
is much higher and the text is much more readable this way, although my mostly-automatic method
of creating these files obviously still has serious problems.
Right now, all that happens is some a shape based on the outline of text from a loaded font is
placed on the screen at a certain frame, and removed from the screen at a certain frame, while a
video loops in the background. I can't even figure out how to get the text to break lines
correctly, unless I resort to single-colored text with drop shadows and no outlines (which is
much harder to read), which bizarrely works for some reason.
