Here is what happened
It's real. It was put together by and outside advertising agency based in Canada. Story is that the
company who worked on several other Apple commercials in the late 80's and early 90's got fed up
with Apple and their rules and regulations when it came to advertising their products. The company
intended to air this ad without Apple's knowledge as a sort of "up yours" to Apple. They attempted
to get it on the air but many stations refused fearing repercussions from the computer
manufacturer. With no other choice they decided to air it on a local cable channel by means of
broadcast signal intrusion on July 20th, 1994 at 4:26 am. Barely any one saw it and no charges were
pressed because it was allowed under the fair use copyright law. The company did eventually go
belly up in 2001 after 23 years.
