Phoenix Wright is set in one of the darkest universes ever made.
People convicted of murder are executed within days of their trial. Trials are limited to at most
3 days in length regardless of the circumstances. If that time limit is reached, then a guilty
verdict is default.
Defense attorneys are largely incompetent and defendants are rarely found not guilty. Most
skilled attorneys go into prosecution, since that is the only place that they will actually earn
any money.
The police are incapable of doing any detective work and mostly just arrest people based off
their vicinity to the crime scene. Only a handful of the people going to trial are actually
guilty.
To live in the world of Phoenix Wright is to live in a world where the justice system is horribly
broken. Most criminals get away with their crimes with innocent people being sent to their deaths
instead. The legal system of Phoenix Wright is completely dark and evil as fuck.

Layton Brothers: Mystery Room is a crime solving mystery game from Level-5, the team behind the
well-known Professor Layton series on Nintendo DS. While this incarnation may only bear passing
ties to the prof's previous adventures, it's still a solid adventure game that will remind you of
Phoenix Wright in some ways. Which is a good thing!
