This again.
Inertial navigation systems are actually rather simple.
First, you determine where you are. Then you determine where you're going (and how fast). Then
you compare where you're going (and for how long) to where you were. By doing so, you have an
accurate approximation (In the case of the (B)GM-109 Tomahawk) that is accurate within less than
one foot. This is how the missile knows where it isn't, because it knows where it isn't any more
(by knowing where it is, which was previously determined by comparing its location to its
previous location).
