I mean you can subtract one track from another by inverting one track and mixing it with the
other, is that what you are asking?
It depends on the circumstances though. If the audio you are editing has multiple channels in the
first place, you might be able to construct the information you want from some manipulation of
those channels only (the most common example being subtracting the left channel from the right
channel to make a vocal-less 'karaoke' version of a song).
