I think I'm gonna give it another shot tonight before I head to bed.
Kestrel is objectively the best ship, even if it's the most bland; the one bar of power costing
missile launcher that does 2 damage and takes 8 seconds to charge is pretty much combined with a
3 laser volley for 2 power every 11 seconds is all you need for the first 3 sectors, and 3 humans
have no weaknesses and can handle pretty much every kind of bullshit the galaxy throws at you.
Pretty sure chances of success are best with it so I'm gonna give that a shot

No way. Lanius B is by far the best ship. You get a flak 1 for 1 power and it has a teleporter,
clone bay, and mind control. You can take out any ship until like sector 5 with that layout alone.

I feel it was probably laziness on part of the devs but what I like to believe is that the Rebels
took over some of the Federations factories and mass-produced identical ships during wartime.
