[_] Bad Apple!! in proper quality AMM !AMM.FiWTOc 06/27/14(Fri)14:04 No.2432285
Sorry no OC, but Bad Apple!! deserves a quality treatment. (Best I could find was like 512x384)
960x720 video in two-passed h.264 at 320kbps from an upscale and the audio recut from the
original FLAC (...then encoded into 60kbps AAC, but remember that AAC-HE is no MP3!)
It's not sane to try and fit a three minute song into 1.5Mb, but on Flash it is!
I also got the idea to change the background color according to the edges. I could've done it by
hand, but spent too much time making an automated script for it.
Usual thing with right-click menu (as in source there)
The subs were simply taken from the wiki, but at least I got some training in Aegisub. You can
toggle them by clicking on them.
Have a pleasant Friday!

No, I'm AMM. I recall some lemur telling me "Welcome to /f/!" when I had been here for months
already, so ehh.
He did repost a flash with credit to me once though (even if he got my name wrong), so I guess
he's pleasant enough.

You're not the first one, and it's interesting how each and everyone of you have described it as
"VLC on windows".
Try to disable hardware acceleration (you're most likely on a laptop) or try to update Flash.
Nothing I can do on my end. sadly.
Or, well, I could use video-on-timeline and lose 60% of the quality, but...

You can "vectorize" Bad Apple; the original is a 3D render.
You can't vectorize the fancy smoke effects any more than you can try to make smoke with only
particles.

I've experimented with high quality softsubbed flash videos too, but this is another animal, my
friend. I'm not able to inspect the stream using my usual methods, so I can't tell whether there
is actually H.264 video embedded in a swf and playing natively in my flash player, but if there
is, how? Is this something that you can only do with flash pro? I have used mainly free tools,
which are much more limited, although I have a copy of flash pro (which I don't know how to use)
that I use mainly for making seamless loops when I need them.
How much are you willing to tell me about your process?
>> [_] AMM !AMM.FiWTOc 06/27/14(Fri)17:15 No.2432538
>>2432519
The video is real h.264, encoded with ffmpeg. The trick is to target FLV (filename.flv and/or -f
flv).
I use [Embed()] from the Flex SDK to embed the video, and then get the ByteArray. I can then feed
that data into an unconnected NetStream with .loadBytes() - the trick here is to use FLV. While
Video and NetStream can handle mp4s no problem, loading the bytes needs the video to be FLV for
various reasons. And, well, that's pretty much it. It did take me some time to figure out, but
it's a neat trick. The downside is that the video can't be streamed, hence the preloader.
This can be done on any IDE, I believe. You just need the [Embed()] for the binary embeds. Search
for 0x40 Hues blog and get my contact info from there if you want to know more.

>>2432538
Speaking 0x40, what do you run on image files to get it in that particular style?
I know you're not dicking around with levels.
>> [_] AMM !AMM.FiWTOc 06/27/14(Fri)17:21 No.2432547
>>2432543
But I/we are! Pyure uses Paint.NET, Mike draws them (he has a thread on /i/) and I use GIMP with
the leveling tool? The one which turns the image into black and white.
I then take multiple layers and add a dither texture. For example, Excel, Mio, Mai, Yukko, Rin,
Lilly etc are my work.
>> [_] Anonymous 06/27/14(Fri)17:21 No.2432548
>>2432538
Thanks, I might be able to figure that out. It sounds like you're basically using the standard
technique for streaming off-site video, except you've embedded the video itself as binary data in
the swf, and somehow you address it and play it.
I'm also interested in how Aegisub is somehow connected to the subtitles in your flash. Flash
Player doesn't have a built-in renderer for any subtitle format I know of, not that I've heard of
at least. In the past I've used a script I wrote to convert simple srt subtitles into code I can
use in a flash, is this something like that, if not perhaps a little more capable (with the
variable styling and placement and such)?
>> [_] AMM !AMM.FiWTOc 06/27/14(Fri)17:23 No.2432552
>>2432548
I embed the SRTs I made and then wrote a parser for the format. Another part of the code checks
every frame (according to the video timestamp) which line should be displayed and sets it if need
be.
I also did this with ShaunOfTheDead and Tron, the 10Mb complete movies in a flash.
