Every time I see stuff about the deep sea, I panic a little.
How the hell do these creatures even exist?

The same way that many insects used to be upwards of 50x their current size due to the
environment.
hate spiders? back a million years, the big ones aussies get would be considered the runts, and
get eaten.
Think about that the next time you lose it over a small venomless spider that you slap once with
a shoe to kill.
You'd NEED the rifles we have now just to injure one of the medium sized ones from a million or
so years ago.

Hi anon, oceanographer here.
It is thought that living in extreme environments imply extreme adaptations. Most modify their
skin and body structure due to pressure: less bones, more gelatinous flesh and lack of cavities
that would collapse due to pressure (e.g. swimbladders). It's also the reason why most things are
(and should) be small in size. Yeah there are the notable exceptions like giant isopods and
architeutis, and quite frankly they defy explanation. It is possible to explain the giant tube
worm, however: lack of predators in a very nourishing environment (the hydrothermal vents).

Lack of light imply in morphological adaptations such as enormous eyes (to capture any glimpse of
bioluminescence) and gaping mouths (encounters are so rare that you best be damn sure you'll
capture it). It also implies in behavioral traits, like parasitic lifestyles. Considering less
than 5% of the ocean floor has been actually explored, who knows. Camouflage and crypsis are key
elements there, which makes it even harder to find new organisms.

Some people just recently noticed that Moot is a massiv faggot and now want other people to
convert to 8chan.
Since Moot doesn't even know that /f/ still exists, it's the only board where people don't get
immediately banned for posting about it.
