I've only ever liked the Mega64 guys when they'd go outside acting like video game characters and
capturing how people react towards them. That's the best shit they've ever done because you
really have to have balls to make a fool of yourself like that in public.
Other than that, everything else they do is fucking awful and I'm having a hard time figuring out
why they think they're so great that they can mock the AVGN like this. As if Mega64 is on a much
higher level than AVGN when they've never done a skit nearly as good as an AVGN episode. The
Mega64 crew is just a bunch of dorks who are only good at going outside acting like video game
characters.

because AVGN's comedy is mostly just saying cursewords back to back, which only a child would
find funny.
its astonishing how he's put like, a decade into this one gag and the humor has not evolved at
all. it's the same fucking gag over and over, swear a bunch and rake in the views.

You know, making a parody of AVGN is like making fun of Troma movie. It is supposed to be cheap
and filled with juvenile humor. However, James really like doing his videos, and shows respect to
the games he plays, even the one that sucks really bad. That really makes the difference between
his videos and your average IRONIC ANGRY reviewer. The fact he did almost 4 videos only on the Mr
Jekyll game is a proof about it. Not trying to act like a fanboy, but after all imitators,
critics and trendies, James still one of the most popular reviewers on the internet side to side
with Doug Walker and JonTron. Same can't be said about Mega64.
tl;dr they jelly as fuck

While I agree with you, I think it makes sense. He was the earliest rage-at-videogames
personality, and is generally credited as the start of the rage review style. Not to mention
there's probably a huge generation of kids that grew up and started using the internet at an
early age, which would explain why he's held up on a pedestal in internet culture (seeing as how
they would be in their 20s, which seems to be the main age group for people on the internet)

Funny parody - Happy Video Game Nerd
Nice crossover - Nostalgia critic and AVGN
Terrible ripoff - Irater Game
A little too late to do any above - Mega64

Why does he look and act nothing like him? I don't really care about Mega64. We all know how fast
those guys sold out. But even if we ignore that, this is a terrible parody. If I was AVGN I'd be
offended, not that they're making fun of him, but that they did such a godawful job of it. It is
like watching a comedian bomb at your roast.

If nothing else, this serves as a good demonstration on why delivery is so important to comedy.

Ironically, reminds me of that Rocky spoof that James reviewed once, his major complaint was
about how incompetent the crew were to create a funny spoof about the most easy targets possible,
like Stalonne voice, the training montage or the old grumpy trainer
that sums up this video
