I don't really think it was just a bit. I remember watching one of the last interviews with him
before he died and he seemed to say that he'd really given up on modern society going anywhere
but in the shitter. He also mentioned that in the later years of his career he considered himself
more of a writer than performed his own work than a comedian that wrote his own jokes.

Well as unfortunate as that is, I still advise we (collective US) consider what was said. Not
practice as he did it, but consider it.
