I was pretty sure it was about drugs destroying a relationship, and being unable to fight
addiction.
But then again, my first thought was that it was a man struggling to delete his porn collection,
so I could be full of shit.

Sort of. Moreso about the links between male retreat to NEET / video games / porn / digital, fear
of the opposite sex, depression and drug use. Implications that both the fear of women and
media-portrayal of women are reciprocally reinforcing, and tied up with drug use and depression.
Also strongly implied that the terror is all in "his" (read: our) heads, but that we can't escape
just by snapping out of it / waking up (i.e. the loop structure of the video indicates that the
cycle continues, and no escape / hope is presented).
Also a critique of the video game and anime industries.

It's not clear what destroyed his previous relationship, or if it was even real in the first
place or just another idealized fantasy for the main character. It does seem clear that the
destruction of that relationship (or loss of the potential to believe in that ideal) coincides
with his destruction and an increase in the evil and power of the other women.

My interpretation was that he recently broke up with a girl. He seems to be an anime otaku, and
perhaps his ideals regarding women and romantic / sexual relationships with them had become
unrealistic, having become warped by overindulgence in such media.

Why can't they make things this unsettling more often?
>> [_] Anonymous 11/25/14(Tue)01:54 No.2609931
>>2609929
Because Japanese horror is often goreporn because they don't actually know how to make thing
horrifying (that being, letting the audience scare the shit out of themselves).
The horror genre is dead simple to get right, but everyone seems to just love goreporn and
brainless murders in masks.

I would also like to see the link of this, I can definitely believe it.
If there is a meaning why does everyone keep talking about drugs in this? Sure it looks trippy
but I don't see the drug use connection.
My theory behind it is that he finds out she used to be a slut or has multiple personality
disorder (the other side is a slut) so he breaks up with her but regrets it and shit happens
depending on which she is. If it's multiple personality then he's trying to get through the slut
side of her which keeps coming out in her and more so since he broke up with her. If she used to
be a slut its her going back to being a slut and him trying to fight through that and get her
back.

I think not understanding shit is part of what makes it unsettling. You can't really make a TV
anime where the audience understands nothing at all, it wouldn't get viewers after a couple of
episodes, so it just wouldn't work in a series.

This is retarded.
Teal-haired girl oozes sex in a way that implies she is pure sexual pleasure and fantasy, like
porn, and implies porn / sex addiction. Main character is shown ogling the teal-haired girls with
cigarette in his mouth, and cigarettes are shown in many scenes with teal-haired girls, making
the implication of addiction even stronger.
It isn't about drugs, but about addiction to porn / idealized females / video games / anime /
manchild media and etc. The cigarette is a convenient shorthand for addiction, that's all.

It seems to be about video games, porn, figures, NEET life and other otaku shit destroying his

I think everyone just assumes he actually had a real relationship. But his "girlfriend" is pretty
heavily moe and idealized herself, and may just as well be another fantasy. The video doesn't
make this super-clear.
A more general interpretation would see it as a statement about male (false) idealizations of
women and the results of these idealizations on the male psyche (i.e. depression, fear and
anxiety with respect to women, isolation and retreat to fantasy and etc.). Which makes it a
little bit deeper than the anime-otaku link.

Because you are yourself caught up in the addictions presented ? Because you fail to perceive the
deeper, depressing message? Because the art is still really good, and designed to be arousing so
you feel the mixture of disgust / sadness / arousal that such an entrapped male would himself
feel?

This
The girl that cries over his body and he sees a montage of her and then it all shatters, that's
the girl he could have had a healthy relationship with if he wasn't an otaku porn addict
>> [_] Anonymous 11/25/14(Tue)02:13 No.2609956
>>2609947
I considered this but the bits where he and her are posing together in the picture frame several
times and the way it eventually "breaks" , as well as the sequence where she's crying on the
ground and he walks away, lead me to believe he just develops fantasies/fetishes that he ends up
bringing into their relationship and she can't satisfy.
>>2609948
Because you're falling into the same "trap". That's the point.

This is a nice alternate interpretation too. The good pink-haired girl as not a past girlfriend,
but a *potential* girlfriend lost due to his retreat into fantasy women and video games.
>> [_] Anonymous 11/25/14(Tue)02:20 No.2609963
>>2609956
Yeah, there's a strong case for reading it as if he did indeed have a past girlfriend.
I just think it's a more general reading to see good pink-haired girl as something abstract,
either in the form of another idealized woman, or an actual potential future relationship that
the MC loses a chance with, and her weeping over him as "women weeping over men" or something.
And I think this reading is more important, and closer to the message of the piece, because it is
not only males with girlfriends that get entrapped in the anime / video games / idealization of
females thing, but males in general. The whole piece is so abstract anyway, both interpretations
seem valid.

>> [_] Anonymous 11/25/14(Tue)03:07 No.2609995
>>2609968
There is an underlying message. The story is literally that of a hazy dream, and sexual
commentary aside, it is not meant to convey a message so much as it is intended to describe the
aftereffects of a lost love. He misses the sex, but really, he misses her, and damn the sex. It's
a subtle allegory about the dangers of escapism, as well as a jab at anime hypersexualization,
but ultimately describes 33 as a horny, lonely guy regretting the loss of a girl he used to love,
being torn to shreds by his own guilt.
I've written a massive textwall, but I don't actually want to repost it here for fear of invoking
TLDR
>> [_] Anonymous 11/25/14(Tue)03:13 No.2610000
>>2609995
What makes it viral is the subversive use of hypersexualisation first to cloy you and trick you
into popping a boner before slamming down on it with overuse, grotesqueness, and feels. By the
end of the video, you're as sick as the protag is about sex.
Basically, many people come in thinking "whoa" then "fapmode ACTIVATED" then "dammit, I can't fap
to this."
