well why haven't they made anything past the story when guts gets the dragonslayer? despite the
manga's been out for that bloody long...the ultra-violence and fucked up shit does ramp up quite
severely and also takes jabs at religion, it would take ALOT of time and effort to get it through
censorship

If they were to keep going with it, it would either be a major, MAJOR shift in tone and adult
content, or keep censoring the show, which would be a lot of work.
Introducing rape, gore and all that good stuff would actually make sense seeing what event that
would introduce the shift, but you would also lose major parts of the story up to that point
which wasn't included.
