My concern lies in the bullshit the spew on a day-to-day basis. Little sister came home one day
from junior high and told my mother that the teacher denied Noah's Ark and the flood when asked
about it at school.
My mother got pissed and started ranting about the shit education in Texas what with all the
atheists and non-Christian folk "indoctrinating our precious youth" with their lies. Oh, the
irony!
I couldn't stand there letting her tell my impressionable 10 year old sister that the flood
actually happened. I explained that there's reason to believe the Great Flood was actually just
the Mediterranean overflowing from heavy monsoons, and that the idea of a global flood was
hilarious and unfounded. Standard "you're going to hell" response ensued.
There's no winning with these people.

Now I'm a fan of God but isn't it a bit narrow-minded to suppose that the God of us, being he who
created this universe, is the "best" or "amazing"?
We don't have any universes to compare this one to- they could be a lot worse, in which case that
assortment would be true.
It could also be a lot better though.
We just don't know.
This is interesting in how related it is to the original ideal of 'optimism' which proposed that
since we lived in the universe of God's molding and creation, it is exactly how he would like.
Because of this, we are living in the best of all worlds- the one that a perfect being created;
would he create something less then perfect?
Once deism and the clockmaker ideas came around this theory could be debated beyond the theism
aspect.
