To this day Wushu is still the most demanding martial arts class I've taken. It might not be as
hard hitting as Muay Thai but to be able to move correctly without hurting yourself is extremely
physically demanding.

sometimes I wonder if m. night shyamalan realized there were asian people that could do this.
like, he could have hired real asian people that do this stuff for money. instead of idiot
children.

nobody cares.

It looks really cool, but I wonder how well a Wushu master fights in a non-choreographed fight
against, let's say a Jiu-Jitsu master.
All this movement speed and wiggling around won't help the Wushu master if he's locked on the
ground.

There's a difference between show fighting and actual fighting. While Wushu is still a more
flashy style of martial arts in a fighting situation it wouldn't actually look this flashy. Also
wiggling around helps a lot in Jiu-Jitsu. How do you think you break out of grabs on the ground?
Even people in Judo/Jiu-Jitsu practice wiggling the fuck around because escaping.

Not by spinning your head around like you are at a Metallica concert. The point I am trying to
make is that Wushu looks nice and sure is a real martial-art, but when a Wushu fighter gets
grabbed and pinned to the ground he cannot help himself anymore.

Except that's not true? Wiggling their head around as part of show for one segment of that mock
fight does mean that's all they do. If you can use your whole body to spin and move like that
than you can probably wiggle around on the ground considering wushu has it's own fair share of
grapples depending on what style of Wushu you're learning.,

If you say so. I've never seen much of Wushu but the Showfights and a lot of chinese and other
continental asian martial arts who all lose to the grappling and ground fight skills of Jiu-Jitsu
or even wrestlers.

Wushu is an overall term for chinese martial arts. This particular style would get fugged by BJJ
or Judo because of how direct both of those styles are. This particular style of Wushu is more
about deception to make your opponent believe you're moving one way when you're actually moving
another. Similar to aikido I guess but a little more flashy.

not really. I often have discussion on /f/.
We are pretty normal people here.

As a martial artist and ex-member of my university's wushu club I can pretty much confirm that
wushu itself does not translate to knowing how to fight irl.
That said, wushu is very hard on the body, similar to ballet, and wushu practitioners are usually
very fast and toned, so even if they don't have combat experience, they still know how to throw
punches, kicks, and do them well. Most of them have at least taken tae kwon do or something.
Wushu also overlaps with parkour a lot of the time.
>>2792421
Everyone says that to give legitimacy to wushu, but it's purely performance. Chinese martial arts
are half fight, half dance - that's what makes them beautiful. Wushu is a mishmosh of showy
martial arts movements from different animal style that serve little practical purpose - thus
making it all dance.
jeet kun do is cooler

It is true though. Every martial arts thread either starts off "why can't x beat Muay Thai?" or
is a normal thread and then someone comes in and says "why practice this shit when Muay Thai can
beat it?" Naturally rather than ignoring it everyone goes apeshit and the thread dies.

Its like active "body and mind perfection" wich means no harm to others in core, but with it you
are obviously "stronger" than regular human? I Just asking only out of curiosity.
