I've actually had a file like that on my computer.
Friend gave it to me before he decided to quit steam, and that was two years ago.
http://gyazo.com/96491f43c67ce12a72b657f2fd951ccf
Anyone know what it means?
Also, a worthwhile note is that is changes my computer's name into a bunch of the same looking
stuff. Not really sure how this works, as I'm not fully into the whole programming scene.

seldom if ever do you see a hacker on here anymore, you shouldn't worry too much. too many sites
freely talk about /b/ with no repercussion now.

>>2768283
well, do you know where they originate?
if you don't know where they came from then the possible meanings are almost completely
impossible to pinpoint. there is an entire internet of files out there that could be the
culprit... that is a staggeringly large pool, you need to narrow it if you expect any help.

well lets see, if its the government, then it is not meaningless, I guess it could definatly be
monitoring your computer in some way, it could be as simple as requiring a cypher, but that isn't
exactly my strong point, decryption can be difficult.
are the files related? (do they belong together or are they just random and separate)
do symbols repeat and are there clearly spaces between words?
perhaps paste an example text randomly selected from the file?

Yes, I know what a cypher is, and it's easy as fuck.
From what I can tell, it's basically a simple ROT1, with some extra shit added in.
I think "H!D^OJF$*" is password, cause later it's used in an abbreviated sense as "H!D^".
Some shit about a password I guess.If so,
H=p
!=a
D=s
^=s (Throws me off, not sure if this is right)
O=w
J=o
F=r
$=d

and what is the format of the file itself?
im assuming it opens in word pad or another word program.
to find a pattern, we will require a larger sample text, a few lines ought to work, just enough
to see a few repeating characters.

the "^" could mean a "repeat" but I agree, "pass" is the only word I would see frequently
abbreviated like that.

I have seen this sort of thing before
M("`@("`@"B`@("`@("`@("`@("`@("`@("`@("`@("`@("`@("`@("`@("H`@
it usually translates directly into a chart that is read by a 3rd party .exe
I had a flash game that used this to understand values within a save.
