It works because somehow in Russian, with the girl singer, they always seem to have an edge of
tragedy. That tinge of despair of wanting, and knowing there's something better out there, but
that you're stuck in Russia. But you still love the place.
And so you have a shot of vodka to help numb the pain.
I mean, you have this little shitty little industrial town, and you're just getting by there with
family, occasional friends, then the goddamn nuke reactor blows up, and irradiates the place, so
you can't even LIVE in the shitty little town anymore.
