I stopped listening when he talked about automation putting people out of work, when any analysis
of the economics of automation tells you it creates both a higher standard of living and more
jobs.

I love this backwards theory that robots are going to steal all our jobs and then everyone will
be poor. They act like any job that disappears can never be replaced and completely ignore new
markets, arts and scientific research. You'll note the fact that millions of farming jobs have
disappeared between the 1600s and today, however we're not all starving and we're not all
unemployed. When less people are needed to produce food then those people just go and do
something else.
