The sound is what you would hear on the line if you listened in. It's the two modems handshaking
to figure out protocol/baud rate. The speaker is on as some kind of feedback for the user so they
know the modem is actually dialing and not having a person pick up on the other end.
You could easily turn the speaker off by making a small modification to the init string if you
cared.
