Get 3 of the same color hanging on each other and they explode, but sometimes they seem to
explode at complete random.

Create a chain of XYX, where X and Y are any two colors, and the chain disappears.
e.g. red-red-red will disappear, as will red-green-red, but not red-red-green.

Ah, that's what it is.
I was experimenting with chains like red-orange-yellow to see if that's what was doing it.
